The most common therapy performed by chiropractors is known as “chiropractic manipulative therapy,” also called “spinal adjustments.” The purpose of this therapy
is to restore normal motion to the joints of the body. This can have a major impact
on the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems. It can decrease degenerative
changes in the bones and muscles and improve how the nervous system functions. Restoring normal motion to joints allows the bones to return to a more proper
position and your body to function as it should.
When performing an adjustment, Dr. Patenode applies a precisely directed force to a joint that is not moving correctly. Usually this is done with her hands using a Diversified Manual Technique. However, some patients are better candidates for alternate techniques such as drop-table, instrument assisted, and/or mobilization. Dr.
Patenode will determine through the history and physical exam which technique is
best suited for you.
Increasingly, research has shown the efficacy of chiropractic care for a variety of different conditions. Most often it is used during an acute episode of neck and back pain. It can also be used during non-symptomatic periods to maintain wellness and prevent relapses.
Most insurance companies now have in-network and out-of network chiropractic benefits! Call your insurance company to find out your specific benefits. In Oregon, most car insurance policies will cover injuries related to a car accident.
